Philip W. Malakoff

Senior Vice President – Wealth Management, Director of Research and a Member of FLI’s Investment Committee

Philip joined FLI in 2007 and serves as Senior Vice President – Wealth Management and is a member of FLI’s Investment Committee.  Philip is involved in most of the firm’s investment related activities.  He leads the firm’s outside manager evaluation process, including conducting research, analysis, and ongoing due diligence.  Other investment related responsibilities include portfolio management for both long only and hedged strategies, performing company specific research and analyzing company and sector valuation models which he developed for FLI.  Philip also prepares asset allocation recommendations for the firm’s clients, and has marketing and client service responsibilities.  Prior to joining FLI, he provided equity and fixed income research and asset allocation services to clients of Westport Resources Management, Inc., a boutique brokerage and investment management firm.  He was President and Chief Investment Officer of Metropolis Capital Management, a hedge fund, and held various positions in asset management and research at Ladenburg Thalmann & Co.

Philip is a member of the Executive Committee of the Friends of the Israel Defense Force (FIDF), Long Island Division.  He previously served as the Secretary of the Board of Trustees and an Executive Committee Member of The Long Island Children’s Museum.  Philip received a B.B.A. from Emory University in 1986 and earned an M.B.A. in finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1990.  When not in the office, you can most likely find Philip on a golf course, spinning, completing a New York Times crossword puzzle, or reading a mystery novel.  Philip lives in Great Neck with his wife, Stacey, and has the pleasure of paying both law school and college tuition at the same time for his two children.
