Senior Vice President, Finance & Administration and Chief Financial Officer
Thérèse (“Teri”) is a Senior Vice President and the Chief Financial Officer at First Long Island Investors. She has been with the firm since 2012. She holds several FINRA licenses and is responsible for regulatory filing of financial information with FINRA and SIPC. Teri oversees the accounting and financial reporting for First Long Island Investors, its various affiliated entities and for the FLI investment strategies. Teri focuses on long-term planning and compliance for FLI, FLI-advised partnerships and clients. She establishes and maintains internal control procedures to safeguard both company and client funds.
Teri works closely with clients and their outside advisors (typically accountants and attorneys), providing guidance across individual filings, trusts, foundations and gifting, as appropriate. Teri is the point person for asset valuation reporting as it relates to estate planning, estate tax filings, insurance, and other related matters. She contributes to FLI’s cross-functional efforts to prepare reporting for all clients, including net worth schedules for family office clients. Teri oversees a team of bookkeepers and administrative personnel who support family office clients, their trusts and family limited partnerships along with FLI investment partnerships.
Prior to joining FLI, Teri worked in public accounting, where she was involved with tax and accounting matters for individuals and businesses across various industries, including hospitality, manufacturing, and retail sales. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Accounting from Queens College and is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant). Teri is a member of the AICPA and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Outside of FLI, Teri serves on the Board of Trustees of Variety Child Learning Center, where she has held the role of Treasurer for the last two terms of her tenure and serves on its Finance and Audit Committee. She is also a member of the Board of Directors at United Way Long Island, serving on the Audit and Finance Committee and participating in a new women’s initiative growing across United Way worldwide. Teri grew up in Dyker Heights, raised her son in the Rockaways and now resides in Smithtown.
