Lawrence J. Waldman

External Senior Adviser

Lawrence (“Larry”) joined First Long Island Investors in 2016 as an external Senior Adviser.  Larry advises certain high net worth individuals, families, and select institutions, helping them understand and benefit from FLI’s investment and wealth management services.  Larry also plays a key role in building and strengthening strategic relationships with professional services firms across Long Island.

Before joining FLI, Larry spent over three decades at KPMG, the global accounting firm.  He began his career there in 1972 and, until 2006, served as Managing Partner of KPMG’s Long Island office, where he oversaw operations and led the regional practice.  Larry serves as a board member and audit committee chair for several public and private companies.

Larry was appointed to the Board of Directors of CVD Equipment Corporation in 2016, where he is now Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Audit Committee.  He has been a member of Comtech Telecommunications Corporation’s board since August 2015, serving as Lead Independent Director from December 2021 through March 2024.  He currently chairs Comtech’s Audit Committee.  Larry also serves as the Audit Committee Chair and board member at APYX Medical Corporation, a Nasdaq-listed medical technology company.

In addition, Larry is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Long Island Association and serves on the boards of the Long Island Angel Network and the Advanced Energy Research Center at Stony Brook University.

Previously, Larry was Chairman of the Supervisory Committee at Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Chairman of the Audit Committee for the SUNY Board of Trustees, and Chairman of the Audit and Finance Committee and the Board of the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA), the second largest government utility in the country.  He has also shared his expertise as an adjunct professor at Hofstra University, teaching graduate courses in advanced accounting theory and auditing.

A certified public accountant in New York State, Larry is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of CPAs.  He earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from Hofstra University.
