Virginia A. Umbreit

Vice President – Portfolio Administration and a Member of FLI’s Investment Committee

Virginia has been an integral part of First Long Investors’ portfolio administration department since 2000, and currently heads the team. Her portfolio administration responsibilities include all aspects of client service, as Virginia is the main point of contact for a client’s day-to-day needs, including account opening, managing all cash flows, quarterly client reporting, etc.  Virginia facilitates the flow of information between FLI and a client’s other advisors, primarily accountants and attorneys.  She is also the liaison with both our outside investment managers and the custodians which hold client assets.  Virginia serves on FLI’s Investment Committee and is involved in developing asset allocation recommendations for clients.  Prior to joining FLI, Virginia held investment management positions at Schroder’s Investment Management Services and American Express Financial Advisors going back to 1986.

Virginia serves on the Board of Directors of United Way of Long Island, whose mission is to advance the common good, creating opportunities for a better life for all by focusing on the three key building blocks of education, financial stability, and health.  She also serves on the board of directors of Melville House, a charity that gives scholarships to college students from Long Island who have above average grades and are in financial need.  Virginia is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island where she earned a bachelor’s of science degree and led their volleyball team to many victories.  Virginia lives in Dix Hills with her two daughters and two dogs.  When not in the office, she can often be found on the sidelines of a soccer field.
